'Star Trek' Actor George Takei Comes Out - Yahoo! News

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051028/ap_en_tv/people_george_takei

I wish him and his partner minimum flack and much love and support.

In related news -

Fellow Texans, PLEASE do not forget to vote in this up-coming election. One of the propositions includes a statewide gay marriage proposition.

NOV. 8 ELECTIONS

• Proposition 2: House Joint Resolution 6 would provide that marriage in Texas is solely the union of a man and woman, and that the state and its political subdivisions could not create or recognize any legal status identical to or similar to marriage, including such legal status relationships created outside of Texas.

Early voting is available this weekend:

October 29, 2005 (Saturday) 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
October 30, 2005 (Sunday) 1:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.

rat and I will be doing early voting this weekend, to vote AGAINST Proposition 2. I really don't care about the others at the moment. This is just bullshit.

Here is a link to the other ones:

To protect myself from being sliced open, I made rat get a pedicure Saturday. The man's toenails are thick, strong and long. They hurt when they brush against my skin in the middle of the night as I walk past his feet sticking out of the bed. I get up to pee and he opens a vein in my leg...

He had seen a place in the strip shopping center with the Tom Thumb where we do a lot of grocery shopping and when we got there we noticed the words on the glass saying 'walk-ins welcome'. Great! We had dropped by to make an appointment and he could be done that day!

It is a busy place and the staff is bustling around. I decide to get my first manicure ever, since they were only $10 and they take me first. I now have even nails with clear polish. The girl doing my nails found me amusing as we chatted about languages and writing. As my nails were drying at the drying station, rat was taken to a big 'thing' with a cushy chair and a large jacuzzi footbath. The girl REALLY did a good job cleaning those toes up and getting the nails short. I have tried to cut those nails and I have threatened to purchase a horse hoof cutter because his nails are so tough and strong.

While I waited for him, I sat on one of the drying station chairs. Two spanky girls with new French Tips were seated with me. One was still in high school and one had been taking some college classes. For a while, rat and I talked back and forth with some of our sign language words because it was so loud. The girls kept looking at us. Finally I picked up on them talking about school and how much they hated World Geography. I had to add my two cents, which was how useless the class was for anyone except someone majoring in it. The college girl and I started chatting about how general education is really not geared to interests but to what the powers-that-be want a person to know. A class should be geared to the interests of the person - for example, college girl was a psychology major. Instead of taking two semesters of specific American History classes (1301-prior to 1865 & 1302-after 1865) with all those stupid wars, dates and people to memorize, why are classes not geared to that psychology major? Take the same timelines and put in the history of psychology into the mix. That makes it more interesting.

Anyway, we had a nice chat. Then rat was ready, we paided, then went home.

We also went to a craft show Saturday. Saw my ex-boss from UTD there, as a vendor! She gave me a big hug and we chatted for a while.

The craft show was fun but my back was dying by the end of the hour. We went to eat at the neighborhood Italian place, did the nail thing, then got home.

Yes, we have been doing FF7 this weekend, too. Just got Vincent in the party.

Protean Player

Ah, you are one of the most common yaoi stereotypes. You're hot and you know it, as does most of the population. With such good looks and mad skillz, who are you to deny any percentage of humanity from being able to have you? This is why your kind tend to swing both ways, if you know what I mean *wink*. Also, while you prefer to be seme, you've been known to be uke when the situation calls for it. Just as long as everyone's having fun and enjoying themselves. Protean Players are also amongst the friendliest of the yaoi stereotypes, and the most outgoing. You aren't afraid to speak your mind or jump right into things. Be careful, though, because your rep may come back to bite you on the ass if you ever settle down with a steady lover. It'll be hard for you to even LOOK at another person without making your significant other think youre foolin' around behind their back. Is it your fault you're so damn sexy?

Likeliness of being seme: 80%
Likeliness of being uke: 20%
Some fellow Protean Players: Yohji and Schuldig (Weiss Kreuz), Gojyo (Saiyuki), Sano (Rurouni Kenshin), Touga (Shoujo Kakumei Utena), Duo and Zechs (Gundam Wing)

In a nutshell: blood pressure medication was too strong, especially with my weight loss.

I have a pill cutter, a battery-powered blood pressure cuff and another appointment next Monday to check everything.

Body still hurts but it is less painful than it was, so I am getting better in that dept. My wrist is feeling better, which is really good. I found one of my old wrist braces and I think it helped stablize it so it would begin healing more quickly.

It still hurts to sit for even a short period of time so I may not go to work tomorrow, either. It would be pointless to try and work at a sitting desk job for a whole day when sitting up for only ten minutes kills me. My lower back is still tender and I feel the nerves shutting down sometimes when I sit for a while. I shook up all my sciatic nerve health issues when I landed on my lower back.

Okay, back to being on my back in front of the TV, watching rat play FF7 most of the time and sometimes me doing some of the non-fighting sequences, except when I fall asleep, which I do a lot right now. Must be my body wanting down time to heal.

I will respond to comments, etc. when I am feeling better. Thanks for the well-wishes!

Damn it all...

I have been having these grey-outs ever since I started taking the blood pressure medication. It does not happen every day and when it does, I lean up against the wall to steady myself or I just keep walking. The pattern just has not been consistent for me to go in to the doctor again.

While I was sick last month I had an almost black-out, where I actually toppled over backwards and landed on some soft stuff in the hall. I was aware of what was going on and could still hear.

Today, I got up to wash my hands because one had this burning sensation like I had some chemical on it. I had poured some Drano earlier so this made some sense to me. I felt myself going grey so I leaned up against the door, right in the doorway from the media room to the hallway. I kept thinking to myself, almost like a chant, if I can hear, it's not a blackout, because that's what rat told me. Way in the distance I heard a thump and then I felt my left butt cheek begin smarting. When I could see again I was on my back and on the floor.

I just laid there for a while, feeling all the various pains begin to attack me. I had hit a box of doujinshi with my butt, which was causing that specific pain but my entire ass was sore, even my tailbone. It felt like I had lightly twisted my left thumb. My entire back and stomach muscles hurt.

rat was in the process of being sick in the bathroom attached to the room where I had fallen. After about a minute he came out and asked if I was okay. He had heard two thuds that sounded like a 'ka-boom', felt the floor shake and wondered what had happened. It could have been some of the loud stuff we get from outside sometimes or it could have been something falling, like one of our bookshelves, inside. He decided it might have been me, so he dragged himself out and found me on the floor.

I am fine, but sore. I am going to rest now.

Time to call the doc on Monday...

rat's car decided to die last night, on the way to Sears to have it checked anyway. I met him there after work, which is close to Sears. They put in a new battery but they were leary about handling the alternater, which at one point was cobbled back into the car with a jerry-rigged brackett by another company. So Sears gave us a card to a auto place in Plano and we dropped off the car and put the key in the night deposit.

We ate, ran some errands and made it home okay. He gamed for a little while then he got hit with a small case of food poisoning. I was getting a headache myself but I think mine was sinus-related.

This morning, rat got up an hour earlier so he could catch the bus at the library and go to work.

I still have the headache but my bite guard is helping this morning. I will be going to the office, at least for a while.

Tomorrow we have to meet the outlaws at rat's sister's house. rat's brother and sister were both born this month and I guess his folks decided to visit here for their daughter's birthday. I don't know when the birthdays are. I think rat missed his brother's birthday and rat still has not called him to wish him many more, even though I remind him every day to do so.

Aja! I am in the process of downloading the scanlations - THANK YOU!

Well, we gave up on Final Fantasy 5 & 6. Our Playstation 'classic' kept freezing up. Spyro 3 plays just fine and we even left the ps running all night to see if it would freeze up when we picked up the controller again. Nope, it was fine.

Last night I suggested rat try Final Fantasy 7 in the machine. It is running so far so our fingers are crossed.

Amusing bits from last night included me reminding rat of various scenes and people from Advent Children - such as the church with the flowerbed, Barret, Tifa and Marlene in THE bar from the movie, the little coloured orbs in the interface being same stuff as the box of 'glowballs' that were in the church, the eye colour references, etc.

Also had a weird dream last night. I was Cloud and rat was Barret and Tifa was herself. We had been hurt badly and had lost consciousness, stripped to our boxers/briefs and all placed in a big wide bed with warm covers. I woke up from this dream still under the influence, thinking I was Cloud needing to pee and Barret was snoring in my ear. Of course, I needed to pee and rat was snoring in my ear. My trip to the john was quite surreal; I was still in 'Cloud' mode the whole time and really found it strange the boy would sit down to pee. My mind immediately saw the boy holding onto a towel rack with one hand to keep from swaying while attempting to aim for the bowl with the other hand. No, I cannot tell you what 'size' the boy was except it was probably an average 'at rest' size by the way he was holding himself. His hand was not overflowing with penis. I distinctly remember thinking "Two Shakes" when he was done. Then the two of us stumbled back to bed and went back to sleep. Very strange.

Oh, and I saw the characters wearing their Advent Children bodies and faces, not the game design character shapes. The game character designs remind me a little of Lego Starwars; very blocky.

Last weekend we went to a vampire video party. Our hosts were two ladies we have known for years through ren faire. They now sell handmade jewelry and beadwork at various shows, including a few anime cons.

We saw the end of that vampire trilogy with Wesley Snipes and all of "Van Helsing", which was a great romp of silliness and well-done cg. We mst'ed a little and that was a hoot because we all knew the same obscure references. At one point, when the heroine was looking around and the werewolf who is her brother is hanging above her, I made a comment about it-saying she should be detecting the wet dog smell (it was raining outside). Later, the monk commented on the wet dog smell and our friends laughed hard. They knew about the line but did not let me know about it. That kept happening - I kept filling in the punchline before it happened and then everyone laughed when it came through. The movie IS pretty obvious in some places so this was not a hard thing to do.

We ended up being the only folks who showed up, which actually worked for us. It gave us the chance to talk with our friends exclusively, which was nice. A LOT of laughing happened.

Many folks had gone to the Texas Renaissance Festival in Houston that weekend so our hosts were not too surprised at the lack of attendees.

Anime Watching: We saw "Steamboy" and "Ninji Scroll". Both were interesting and enjoyable movies. I have started "The Vision of Escaflowne" TV series.

Manga: Read Fruits Basket 11. Was surprised Akito's gender was not revealed.

Aja! You are evil to leave me hanging with those "Emma" scanlations!
